How to Configure a Spooled Printer for RealWorld on UNIX:

  1. Login as ‘root’ on server.  Type ‘scoadmin’ at the # prompt.

  2. Select ‘Printers’, then select ‘Printer Manager’.

 

  1. Select ‘Add Local’ from the ‘Printers’ menu.

 

  1. Enter the ‘Name’, ‘Model’, and ‘Device’.  ‘Description’ is optional.
  2. Enter ‘OK’.

 

  1. Exit ‘Printer Manager’, then exit ‘SCOadmin’.

  2. Change to the RealWorld v8.0 directory.  At the prompt, type ‘vi run80r’.

  1. Move the cursor down to the ‘spoolprt’ sample line.  Use UNIX command Shift “ + a y y to copy the line.

  2. Move the cursor down and use Shift “ + a p to paste into a new line.

  3. Move the cursor on that line to the word ‘spoolprt’, then use c w to select the word to change it.  Type the new printer name using the same name that was entered in SCOadmin Printer Manager and then press the ESC key to execute the change.  Repeat in each instance of the word ‘spoolprt’ in the line.

  4. When the line has been changed, press Shift : then w q to exit and update the file.

  5. Login to RealWorld, and add the new spooled printer to the Printer Selections under Company Information (3rd screen).

  1. Enter a friendly printer name in ‘Printer-name’.  For ‘Device-name’, enter the same name that was entered in SCOadmin Printer Manager and the ‘Mode’ will default to serial.  Set for 80-column printing and Epson emulation.  Press Enter to accept the changes, then ESC to quit.
