RealWorld: "Maximum Number of Users
Exceeded"
RealWorld System Manager Version 8 - Error
Messages
Maximum Number Of Users Exceeded
The situations which can cause this error message are different for single user and network systems.
For Single User Systems
If you experienced a power failure, hardware failure, or the power switch was turned off while using RealWorld software. In each of these cases, you were unable to normally exit RealWorld software.
Handling: Delete the file named REGCNT.DAT. This file is located in the RealWorld top–level directory. To delete this file (assuming that you are on drive C and you are using RWC as your RealWorld top–
level directory), enter the following MS–DOS commands:
cd c: \rwc
del regcnt.dat
Once this file has been deleted, you may resume normal use
processing.
For Networks
Situation 1: The number of users currently running RealWorld software is equal to the maximum number of users for which you are licensed.
Handling: You will have to wait until another user logs off before you can use RealWorld software.
Situation 2: The number of users currently running RealWorld software is less than the maximum number of users for which you are licensed, but one or more users have previously exited from RealWorld software improperly.
Handling: If one or more users have exited from the software improperly, then the count of concurrent users that is maintained by the software is higher than the actual number of users who are currently
using the software. This situation can be eliminated by having everyone currently using RealWorld software exit from the software in the normal fashion. Any stations that have exited improperly must
be rebooted or cleared by the network manager from the console workstation.
Ensure that you are the only user logged on the system. Delete the file named REGCNT.DAT. This file is located in the RealWorld top–level directory. Once this file is deleted, you may resume normal processing.
